Sausapor is a small town in the north coast of West Papua province. It is now the temporary capital of Tambrauw regency. It can be reached riding a 4WD car from Sorong city for approximately 3 hours. The waters of Sausapor is covered with coral reef that is good for snorkeling and scuba diving. A few weeks ago, I visited the town to explore its forest and its coral reef areas.
I was surprised to see that the fish population in the town was high and the coral reef was in very good condition. Fortunately, I brought my Nikon Coolpix AW120. It was a good underwater camera that could take pictures up to 18 meters below the surface. While snorkeling, I was able to see various species of reef fish including damselfish, anemone fish, surgeon fish, butterfly fish, nurdibranch, and much more. To be able to take pictures of those fish, I used free diving techniques.

The best time to enjoy snorkeling in Sausapor and its coastal area is in the months of April, May, June, July, August, and September.

In addition to snorkeling, visitors who go to Sausapor can also enjoy various ecotourism activities that are related to forest. There are a number of places that I promote for trekking, and birdwatching. Because most of them are pure jungle, the best way to explore its forest is by staying there for a few days. I can arrange a jungle tour with complete camping gear (tents, air mattresses, cooking and eating utensils).

The snorkeling trip in the waters of Sausapor town can be combined with rainforest, trekking, wildlife, birding and camping trip. As a tourist guide, I offer 5 day/ 4 night snorkeling and rainforest tour package to tourists who are interested in visiting Sausapor. The minimum number of participants per group is between 2 and 4 people. This is important to share the cost between each participants.
